Privacy notice
[PLACEHOLDER: legal review before launch] This notice is a working draft and must be reviewed by a qualified professional before the site goes live.
Who we are
Renu is the data controller for any personal data collected through this site.
[PLACEHOLDER: legal review: registered company name, number and address]
What we collect
When you request the free guide we collect your email address and a record of your consent (what you agreed to and when). That's it: no names, no phone numbers, no cookies for marketing.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use your email address to send you the free guide and occasional educational updates about Irish home energy grants. Our lawful basis is yourconsent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given via the unticked checkbox on the signup form. We do not share or sell your email address to third parties, and we do not use it for any other purpose.
Who processes it
We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to store our email list and send emails, acting as our data processor. Kit is based in the United States; transfers of EU personal data to Kit are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses inKit's privacy policy and data processing agreement. [PLACEHOLDER: legal review: confirm current Kit DPA link and transfer mechanism]
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until the list is retired. [PLACEHOLDER: legal review: confirm retention period]
Cookies and analytics
We only use non-essential cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner. Nothing non-essential loads before then, and “Reject non-essential” is always as easy as “Accept all”.
Strictly necessary. A first-party cookie (cc_cookie) stores your choice for six months so we don’t ask on every page. The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots. These are needed for the site to work and don’t require consent.
Analytics (only with your consent). We useGoogle Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to see which pages and guides are useful. It sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies (2 years) to tell visitors and visits apart, and collects pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Until you accept, the Google script is not loaded and Google Consent Mode is set to “denied”. You can opt out at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page, which also deletes these cookies. [PLACEHOLDER: legal review: confirm Google data-processing terms and any Google Signals / ads settings in the GA4 property]
Your rights
You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. You also have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, emailprivacy@renu.ie[PLACEHOLDER: legal review: confirm contact address]. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
